What If?

I watched the Chilean miner coverage until the last medic had left the mine. After a few hours sleep but refreshed, I set off to work as normal.

On the way to pick up my coffee, I began crossing at a Zebra as i have done countless days before, when I suddenly realised, half way across, that the elderly driver of the car was not going to stop, Fortunately I stopped. He carried on with his eyes focussed on the middle distance, certainly not on the crossing.

I completed my transit..and then it hit me..what if I had carried on? what would the consequences have been? It shook me up. Perhaps watching the Miners rescue made me think about my own mortality?

I'm sure the driver reached his destination, totally oblivious to the mayhem he could have caused.
