Shed wall - assignment22
Opposite our front door there is an old stone shed. The walls are covered in lichen and moss.
Little sparrows nest in the walls and starlings nest under the eaves. Inside there are square alcoves at the base of the wall for hens to nest in.
The house was built in the mid 1800s, so I guess the shed could easily be about a hundred years old. The craftsmanship that went into building with stone never ceases to impress me, and I love their irregularity and the fact that they have so much more character than regular brick work.
And they look good in the pouring rain too!
