TGI Thursday

Our equivalent of TGI Friday, and it couldn't come too soon this week. Popped down to the beach at sunset with the kids and picked up a Pizza Hut takeaway. The sun drops very quickly so you have to move fast to get a shot.

I am a big fan of David Hobby (aka Strobist) and I went on one of his courses at Gulf Photo Plus last year. He teaches you to balance flash and ambient by under exposing the background by a couple of stops or so and then fill in the foreground with a small off camera flash using a VAL (voice activated light stand, or wife in this case). I've just about figured how to do it on my camera, but am nowhere near figuring out how to get a good pic of all 3 kids in the same frame!
