On a cold and frosty morning
Been a long photographic day today. Don't normally go out before breakfast for photographs but the frost was too much to ignore. My poor potato bags, the leaves have been got. Not sure what to do about them. Hope they survive? Wrap them in straw?

near miss - it was my blip choice until I realised the focussing was out by a couple of meters. Boo hiss.
So we had breakfast, kinda, of brioche and biscuits and tea, because we didn't have enough milk for cereal or porridge. And we went out on a milk and sugar hunt so we could have breakfast proper, and start baking cake rounds for Ben's birthday cake. And as we happened to pass the carpet shop we popped in and paid for the fitting, and as we happened to pass the stationers we popped in and bought gold card and green foil and butterfly stickers. Because. And we saw trains and eventually bought milk and sugar and tottered off home (tottered because I was wearing a pair of trousers that necessitate heels, and I couldn't get the buggy out so was wearing Ben and my feet are still complaining now) and baked cakes and had rubbish for lunch (Ben did not approve of the heinz mini-meal that I heated up for him after his nap, and stole my chocolate chip brioche with cheese and salami sandwich to eat instead. Which apparently was nicer) and then it was mid-afternoon. Quite suddenly.
Which is when I made butterfly cupcake toppers, or at least started to, and Ben learnt a very important life skill - how to unwrap a chocolate before it melts.
This evening has been spent hoisting things up into the loft, trying desperately to clear up the middle room so we can cope slightly better with the potential masses on Saturday morning at Ben's birthday party. Some more sorting tomorrow during the day if Ben lets me, swimming in the afternoon, and cake decorating and sandwich making in the evening. Busy busy days.
I'm a little nervous about this cake, to be honest. I only went and set the bar WAY too high last week. I don't know if I can do as well again! We shall see.... if it turns out anything like the flickering image in my imagination I will be quite happy!
We'll have a rest on Sunday afternoon I think. Just me and Steve and Ben, maybe we'll open a few presents, watch a DVD...
