Marrakesh

I had the opportunity to go to Marrakesh for a weekend.

Before I arrived in Morocco I had a picture in my head of what I thought it was going to be like. Rabat looked very different then the picture I had in my head, because it is a fairly large city and with development has lost some of the Moroccan culture.

Marrakesh on the other hand is bursting with Moroccan culture. It fits the image of Morocco, which was playing through my mind, much better than Rabat.

Saying the souq (market) in Marrakesh is massive, is an undestatement. You can literally walk for hours and never see the whole thing. Its like the Mall of America but Moroccan style. You see snake charmers and monkeys on leashes, but if you try and take a picture you will be asked for money, and if you refuse to give them money they will delete the pictures off your camera....I know from experience...

Since France is the major European influence in Morocco you can find tons of cafe's that have their chairs facing the street. Also, I had 2 of the greatest crepes of my life while in Marrakesh.

Still a few more shots from Morocco to come..
