CASPIAN TERN
Caspians are bigger than their white fronted cousies - about the size of a large red billed gull. They fly over the water ( at high tide ) looking for little fish and dive for their prey. Somewhat like a gannet. We dont have too many around our Estuary but keep a bird fancier busy between high tide and when there's room for the wading birds> SO this one appeared after the Godwits had gone where-ever GW's go at High tide. Nice to see blackknat out twitching today. (knot - lesser)
