Death of the High Street.

Death of the High Street

I remember way back to 1965 when Daventry High Street was a very busy, vibrant market town with a flourishing collection of shops which included at least three butchers shops; two fruit and veg shops; a florist; two chemists; two shoe shops; a carpet shop; two green grocers; three bakers; four news agents; a furniture shop; three pubs; two barbers; two hardware shops; a wool shop; three Menswear shops; a ladies foundation garments shop and quite a few others.

This is what it looks like today.

I have just counted SEVEN Charity shops; SEVEN Estate agents; THREE Building societies and FOUR Banks.

I do feel a miserable old bugger today

I think they call it progress ;-(
