HDR photography, whoopee! or poopy?

Snapped with TrueHDR on my iPod touch through the open car window as I pulled into the garage this evening.

What's here's opinion on HDR manually done and with cheap auto/semi-auto software apps on mobile devices?

Different and cool looking? Or ugly and fake looking?
