Fall ferns

The summer was so hot that these ferns had died back temporarily. With the fall rain, they have grown back and decorate the tree again. Not sure, but these are likely "licorice ferns", which tend to grow off the detritus and moss on the sides of trees in this area.

I met some day hikers from Dubai and from Germany on my walk today. We had an interesting talk about the pros and cons of hot and cold weather. I understand that one cannot exist without air conditioning in Dubai. I would shrivel up like a licorice fern if I lived in Dubai.
