Old Gordon Eh???

No idea who he is actually but obviously must be a rich dude who donated a boat. I think these boats cost about the same as a new decent family car, so pretty impressive gift to the school. We spent the day driving down to watch elder son learn to row. It is a bit like watching a pea on a stick 1km away then getting a glimpse at 300m as they go passed and off into the distance again. We had lived in Henley on Thames where the rowers were always within spitting distance and you could see the sweat, so we did not expect the Kiwi way, the huge mountain lakes. AH well, need a new strategy for future photography. I think more on the lakeside than the actual mid lake action unless I can get a boat myself...unfortunately our inflatable lives in the entirely wrong end of the country and we dont plan on driving it down to photograph rowers. Slack attitude to blip potential but there you go.

Rower got home just in time to hold the tv upright as a large aftershock rocked the house. 4.9 on the scale. Always attention grabbing.
