Diarmuids adventure

Groynes - Bournemouth another sunset

A Poem For Tessa

Dreaming at the moonlit water's edge,

Sand between my toes, so soft and wet,

Waves unfurling, gently bubbling ledge

Washing round my feet, cool footprints set,

Imagining now, in my head the dolphins swim,

Can you hear them, splashing, laughing on a whim?

Shall I wade into water's shadowed deep

Where the moon shines silver on the waves?

Shall I take my freedom, breakers leap,

End my daily, nightly, dreamtime craves?

Swim out to the dolphins tranquil freedom,

Take a-hold their fin and hug and greet them?

Moon sinks down in darkened western sky,

I can't suppress the feeling any more,

As sun comes up and seagulls start to fly,

The dolphins swim in closer to the shore,

What seemed a dream in moonlight's silver glow

Became so real, as sunlight lit the show.

Sitting upon the end of the groyne closeby,

Gazing upon the watery shadows below,

Suddenly the shadows rose to waters high,

Broke the surface, called me, bade me go

With them, seeking freedom in the tide,

I rubbed my eyes, then opened them quite wide.

Yes, they were really here, calling me to swim,

Flying through the air and splashing down,

Chattering, urging me, come take my fin

And travel through our peaceful, dolphin town.

Resistance low, I submerged myself in tide,

Took a dorsel, felt a glow of warmth inside.

This was my dream come true, my only dream,

This was my moment, chance to be at one,

This was my wildest moment it would seem,

This was my great adventure, just begun.

Into the deeper waters, guided with love,

Waters glistening golden, from sun above.

Hugging him, holding tight, I felt a joy,

Feeling like I had never felt before,

Dolphin guiding me gently round a bouy,

My laughter in bubbles for my soul to store,

Gently he carries me back to my safety place,

Chatters and splashes his tail, wets my face.

I sit on the groyne and wave a goodbye hand,

For thanks to them my dreams had all come true,

They'd given me freedom, quality time so grand,

Deep, loving feelings, chance to start anew.

I watched as they swam away with elegant grace,

As they faded distant, a tear rolled down my face
