The Mackessy Cot

This cot was bought for our eldest, Megan in 2002. She was born on the 25 June 2002. She slept in the Cot until April 2004 when we moved from Jersey back to Scotland. At that point we put Megan into a bed. The Cot was then ?stored? until John was born on the 30 December 2005. He was born nearly 4 weeks early and was absolutely tiny. At first he slept in the moses basket until he was around 6 weeks old and then it was his turn to settle into the Cot. John was a fantastic little sleeper and slept in the Cot until he was 1 year old. When he turned one I was already pregnant with the little Katie and we decided to put him into a bed so that he was settled in it before Katie was born. Katie was then born on the 3 July 2007 and after the initial sleeping in the moses basket she soon settled into the Cot. Again at 1 year old we moved her in beside Megan and got them bunk beds. The Cot was dismantled and stored, again!! We then decided to be a little crazy and have ?just one more baby!?. In October 2009 Jessica was born and again after the initial sleeping in the moses basket she settled into sleeping in the Cot. As she turned 1 year old on the 8 October it was time to move her into a bed. Today, Mrs OC and myself have moved the beds around and Jessica is now sleeping in her new bed.

As I was dismantling the Cot I became a little nostalgic (is that the right word?) and thought ?ahhh that?s the last time this will be dismantled. Believe me there will be no more babies in our house until we have grandchildren, which is hopefully a long way away yet. I felt that I had to mark the day with this collage before sending the Cot to the big Cot Heaven.

Just thought I would share this memory with you all.
