Option no.2

Spend your day with your sister at the KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens/Department Store of the West), which is kind of Berlin's equivalent to Harrods. The Christmas decorations were rather overwhelming.

We were on a mission to find a perfume for ourselves, so that our mother would have a good Christmas present to buy us. We discovered that we liked pretty much the same scents and that surprisingly, this didn't cause much friction.

After 2 hours of smelling things we had enough, despite the eager saleswomen taking out little jars of coffee beans and holding them under our noses - it clears the senses apparently and enables you to smell something again - , and headed out for a nice lunch at Cafe Hardenberg.
