Home Cooking

It was my night to cook so I selected a old holiday favorite, Finger Stew...

Good tornado plagued Tuesday everyone.

Caution Ghoulish Stuff:

This may seem backwards but this is how this was done. First I brought down from the kitchen one of the stove grates and a skillet. I managed to suspend the grate in mid air with the pan on it. Using a 15 second exposure I used a long neck butane fire stater from below and went around the pan. That's how I got the cool fire.

Next I took the grate and pan back to the kitchen. Without disturbing the tripod settings I took the camera to the kitchen and shot the pan with some simmering V8 juice.

Back to the shooting stage. I shot the gloved chief holding the knife into of the top of the board. I added a dash of V8 to it as well. Then on an all black surface I shot different positions of my hand and arm

Back in Photoshop I added the simmering V8 pan to the pan with fire around it. I cutout my hand with arm and added it on top of the board. Using an extra mask I removed a portion of my fingers so the knife looks like it has gone through. I didn't remove them completely but left a faint image so you can see my fingers in the knifes reflection. I would have liked to have spent more time on this aspect but what I have worked pretty well. I added some Photoshop blood and then used the Bevel & emboss effect to give the blood some texture.

I then cut off (in Photoshop) 2 sets of my fingers and added them to the stew. I erased portions of those fingers so it looks like the fingers are swimming in the blood (V8).

Final things were resizing the board with hands and knife to make them smaller. Pull a crop and then add some inner shadow to some of the fingers in the stew. I could have played for another hour making this perfect but it really was my turn to make dinner and I needed to get moving. Thanks and enjoy...
