Dreich

There weren't too many people walking in Embankment Gardens this lunchtime - far too dreich. However, I was proud that despite the rain I managed to cycle into work and home again, and it was quite fun. This is mainly because it's half-term and the roads are blissfully free of traffic.

It's amazing how many cars are on the road during school periods. I found myself wondering why children don't come to school on buses or on bicycles, which would make life on the roads so much better. The buses and bicycles would flow quickly and everyone would get to work and school on time without any blood pressure being raised. Bus travel is also free for children aged under 16 in London, so that's an even bigger incentive. However, children come from quite far away to attend the schools I drive past so perhaps the buses don't go from their homes to the schools, and it's too far to cycle and no safe cycle lanes on which to travel. Hence the traffic deadlock. I'll enjoy the swift half-term travel while it lasts.
