The way to the woods
Turn right at the lilt of yesterday's hornbeam walk and the more formal part of the garden gently falls away. The way to the woods is through this tunnel created by the low-lying branches of a huge copper beech. To the right are 6 small ponds where hundreds of frogs live. Beyond the ponds lies the apple orchard.
It's been a will-it or won't-it shine kind of day. Gray cloud won in the end, although the darkness in this picture is mostly due to the fact that I took it standing under the copper beech. There's a special linden tree at the end of this path, just before the woods begin, but I'll save that for another time.
It's unlikely my friend J will see these pictures because she doesn't like computers much, but I'm deeply grateful to her for leaving her garden in our care, and for allowing me to use it in my blips.
