Let there be light
"Oh darling, what are you doing lying there on the floor?"
"Oh Mama, I've just had a hard day at school"
"Oh love, what did you get up to?" (actually I know exactly what; I was watching from the Observation Room)
"Well, first we painted, then we sang at circle time - but you know that Mama because I was on your knee and I think you sing the loudest in class, then I had to say bye bye to you and I cried for a little while until I saw Mr Potato Head and he cheered me up, then we did computer time, then the teacher turned out all the lights and lit the jack o' lantern which was actually a pumpkin with a face carved out, but the lights sure did make me sleepy, Mama, then we played outside in the playground under the big trees, then we came in for lunch but I didn't eat my organic peanut butter and jelly sandwich probably because I've heard you say that's the weirdest combination of sandwich you can imagine, but you're not American, and I am, but you put me off all the same, then you picked me up for closing circle time again and I was so happy to see you, then you sang again very loudly, and then we drove home, well I think we did because I missed that part whilst sleeping, and when we got home I needed another sleep so this is just me resting my eyes for a bit."

Let there be light in every room in my home. The extension now pours light down into the Great Room downstairs which was previously so large that it was starved of window light in the center and along with the patio doors leading onto the garden, I'm in my element. I have a few home rules on light: I will only buy a property based on a bedroom with East facing light to herald the new day. I made a concession here in the hall and upstairs for eau de nil walls which are typically all white for me, but which then require a little colour adjustment for colour cast in photographs.
We've been at school this morning though Reuben had to be taken to the emergency room: he's been in some pain around his feeding tube (Gtbube) site since Callum pulled out the syringe the other day whilst they were nestled in bed together. Reuben is never one to complain of pain - I reckon by 16 excruciating surgeries from heart to his manhood he's developed a high pain threshold, much like most of the kids in CHARGE or those who've undergone early medical intervention, and believe me, that's not a good thing. Pain is there for a reason, whether we like it or not. It's a matter of letting the internal bruising heal in time and to pay extra special attention to the sight of his tube which is permanently inserted through a hole in his stomach.
Callum's watching Signing Time - Welcome to School on the DVD from the unusual position of the bottom of the stairwell. I'm delighted with my finished work as designer on the new addition, by redrawing the architectural plans and in the design finishes. I have a keen eye for spatial planning, how the rooms flow into each other and bathroom design is my specialty. My office/studio sits to the left and the garage to the right, albeit that the nursery upstairs is a far more exciting and naturally lit room to work in.
The carpet is the only one in the house for safety, and the one Callum chose to shower with his lovely brown hands. Of course.
Thank you all for being here, there, the last few days.
Note: Despite generally doing my cropping in camera, on this occasion unfortunately I did it on the iMac and then couldn't decide if the skirting (aka base)board should remain on the right.
