"pick a color"

part of the Do It Yourself nation.

Built a brand new house seven years ago,
put lovely expensive Berber carpet on the floors upstairs. Thought it would be warm and cozy, turns out it is a stain magnet. No help that we have twelve cats (I throw 'em out , kids let 'em in), five dogs, and four kids. Never mind when the Maytag Man emptied a full washing machine into the upstairs hallway. Never mind the full gallon of laundry bleach that vibrated it's way off the top of the dryer onto the floor. We've hired professional carpet jockeys, rented rug doctors from the grocery store, tried spot-be-gone and carpet cleaners galore.

Solution: prefinished 3/4 inch hardwood flooring installed by yours truly.

Have finished all the children's rooms and the hallway. Just did the closet in our room. Now is time for Dr P's bedroom.

Before we put down floor, we pull out the baseboard and old piss stained carpet, then paint the walls (already grimy with paw and fingerprints).

Dr P is trying to pick a color. This is her technique, tape the color swatches onto the wall, each day pull off one. After twenty or so days the color you are left with is the color you buy.

Looks like I have a reprieve on work for a few more days.
