Sweet chestnut

Cold, grey and lashing - just back from Cork on airport duty. We put the Smiths on loud and admired the fantastic colours of the trees. Will flew off to Bristol for a weekend of zombieness with his brother - yikes! He had brought his 'blood-stained' shirt and PVA with him - an experienced and well-prepared zombie! Now I have to quickly sort out something scary as we are off to a potluck zombie supper complete with samba at Sheila's! A bit too many different fusions going on here, might just go as myself!

I am rather proud of this sweet chestnut as it is my own!! We planted the tree about five years ago and this year it has really sprouted and produced a handful of nuts. The prickles are incredibly sharp and the nuts very delicious if roasted by the fire.
