The Fisherman
I was on the way home from my office today and saw a handful of fisherman in the river as I crossed the bridge...and it got me thinking...
Of course my first thought was I need to get my camera!
Generally I dont have much time to shoot during the week so I dont bring my camera to the office often. Its too distracting because I'd sit at my desk thinking about where to shoot during lunch instead of working on my reports.
The thought that crossed my mind was how easy it is to miss the interesting things around our own homes. I look at all the great images on Blipfoto from around the world and think...wow I would love to go there! Its easy to look at our every day world and think its ordinary and mundane.
"Over there" they have such beautiful landscapes, and architecture, and fascinating people...all of which make fantastic subjects to shoot. "Over there" life is so different.
And here I was crossing the bridge over the river, in the middle of traffic, and the fisherman reminded me how interesting my world might be to everyone else. It was an odd thought. Maybe I'm wrong. I think I will take a closer look at my world.
Sunday my photography club is going downtown Chicago to Graceland Cemetary for a Halloween shoot. Its a little out of the ordinary from my normal genre, but I think it will be fun to try some dark and eerie work.
