the pros and cons of entertaining

we had the harrassed trainee teacher and her gang to lunch. she told tales of woe about her first teaching placement and the shouty teacher. we ate risotto and apple pie and felt sorry for her.

they wondered if they should make their kids eat the risotto rather than the alternatives, we wondered if we should make cb2's pal go home so he'd play with the visitors a bit more. but then we stopped wondering and chatted instead
