Deconsecrated
This tough wee kirk hiding behind our main Anglican Cathedral in the Square makes for a good metaphor for the state of change in my home town...
- It illustrates the Anglican control of this town, leaving the other denominations in its literal shadow, so that this church was eventually deconsecrated.
- It gained a second life as a restaurant, jazz venue and wedding venue for Japanese couples looking for the traditional white wedding.
- And now it is providing a touch of black humour while it is propped up and waiting to be saved from post-quake demolition.
