Communication in code?

Learning any language is extremely rewarding. Even more so when a different writing system is involved. The structure of Chinese characters, and how the meaning of each one is related to either the image it forms or its sound, fascinates me. The composition of characters is also interesting. The link between the radical (the part of the character which gives it its meaning) each character possesses and its overall meaning enables characters with a connected meaning to be grouped.

At first, Chinese characters looked like an impenetrable code. However, after just a few weeks of learning Chinese, it is hugely rewarding to be able to decipher and understand once cryptic characters.

The detail and precision involved with writing characters is captivating. One stroke in the wrong place completely changes their meaning.

Woah. This sounds like my personal statement all over again.
