ALL HALLOWS / ALL SAINTS

...After Halloween, we have All Saints Day (or All Hallows). This sign is for All Saints Church in New Cross.

Today is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church. When I lived and worked in the Philippines, I was amazed, and then enchanted by, the fact that on 1 (All Saints) and 2 (All Souls) November, families took food, drink and gifts to celebrate with their dearly departed in grave yards all over the country. (The only stipulation from the Government was that there should be no illegal drugs nor weapons at the graves...)
