I'm half my Dad's age

Being in Ontario I forget how the mountains look because we are on the Canadian Shield. The land is flat and rocky. We have lovely trees but the mountains are majestic.
I spoke at my grandma's funeral about what I thought the afterlife might look like. I told my mom while she was in palletive care that the next life was going to be a BBQ on a mountain. All your family that has passed away are there plus her best friend who had recently passed away. There would be cold beer and grandpa making a potato dish like always. There's no pain there and there is a sense of contentment.

Being able to visit the mountains after I spoke those words outloud was very cathartic. It made me realize that I had held that in since my mom had died. I should have expressed how I viewed the afterlife. Maybe to hear the words outloud or to have a chance to visit such a peaceful place myself.
This is Vermillion lake outside of Banff Alberta.
