This cinema theatre used to be called Royal. The new owner, an independent distributor who took over from one of the big companies, had quite a dilemma: the name had to change, but the sign was protected and had to be left intact.

The brilliant solution: cut the power to the letters a and l.

The new name is supposedly an homage to one of Sweden's top film directors, Roy Andersson, who was born here in Gothenburg.
