Pearl
This is Pearl, my new dog. So who is Pearl and where did she come from? Here's her story.
About 10 years ago in the year 2000, and man and woman fell in love, got married and decided to start a family. They chose to celebrate their marriage by buying a nice little Labrador-mix puppy named Pearl and by having a few kids. Pearl was great with kids, friendly, and a made a nice addition to their expanding family.
Fast forward to late October, 2010 when the man and woman fell out of love, decided to get unmarried, and to celebrate their unmarriage decided to give up their little puppy--now a 10-years-young dog--to one of the many animal research factories, where medical experiments are committed on unsuspecting dogs & cats.
Enter Voiceless Michigan, a not-for-profit charity that helps place these "unwanted" soon-to-be-research animals with good homes. With one day left before going into "research," Voiceless placed Pearl with a good home, namely mine.
Pearl is a great dog. She gets along swimmingly with my other three dogs, and is gentle and loving. How someone could give up the FAMILY PET to research makes the mind boggle, but thankfully there are good people in good organizations like Voiceless who help save these animals, and Pearl and I will forever be indebted to them. So, thank you, Voiceless. You've done a great thing for me AND Pearl.
