In tow

The Coastguard tug Anglian Prince (right) towing the stricken coaster Red Duchess into the safety of Stornoway harbour. The Duchess had broken down off the Isle of Rum, about 100 miles south of Stornoway, the day before. She had been drifting, and but for the Mallaig lifeboat would have grounded on the shore of Harris Bay, Rum. The Prince gallantly came to her aid and towed her all the way to Stornoway at the breakneck speed of 4 knots.

The Anglian Prince was in the news recently, when she pulled the nuclear-powered HMS Astute off a shinglebank near Kyleakin, Isle of Skye.
