What's the point of doing something good if nobody's watching.

It's a dark and dismal November morning, the weather that usually makes cats curl up and snore. Not today, Raspberry has some excitement. We have a craftswoman in, renovating our 117 year old windows. We opted for repair over the trend of replacing the old wooden frames with vinyl. It's actually cheaper, greener of course and allows us to keep most of our lovely old wavy glass. When completed the windows will work properly again and the ropes holding the weights will be replaced with copper chains. European windows are so very different, far more practical and clever, but we must make do with what we have. It's a noisy job, lots of hammering to free the sashes from their imprisonment after decades of paint layers.
