A day to experiment
My printmaking experiments do not feel as though they've been a great success today. I was working to the idea of creating a postcard sized print on the theme of `Welcome to Wakefield'. The Art House (a workshop space and exhibiton centre) is asking members to contribute one postcard sized piece of work that it can sell for £10 to help raise funds.
As a consequence of placing the board upside down I can see alternative ways the print could be developed. Though given that we are due to fly to Australia on Monday, if Singapore Airlines can find us a plane in view of the Airbus A380 debacle, then I think it posible that this might be one idea that doesn't go any further.
We have a new art gallery opening in the new year in Wakefield. The gallery has been named after Barbara Hepworth who was born and grew up in Wakefield (Henry Moore was born 10 miles away at Castleford). The art gallery has been designed by David Chipperfield and will probably be in line for one of the architectural prizes in 2012.
