Fireworks and Light

Hurrah for bokehtastic fireworks!

We had some friends round for fireworks and hotdogs and sparklers. Many hotdogs were consumed, plus ginger cake, and chocolatey-gingery-treacley cupcakes. The fireworks were little fireworks: family friendly (and pet friendly too apparently), but we managed to set the "mine" off first which scared the littlest of our group so 3 little people, one tiny person, plus their respective adults retreated to the safety of Ben's bedroom which had an unparalleled view of the proceedings (and everybody else's proceedings as well!). The other 3 little people (well, two little people and one slightly bigger little person) and their adults stayed outside. Ben and Nathaniel held hands, jumped when the rockets whooshed into the air, and then asked for more. The finale was supposed to be more for the adults but I wish I'd got a few of them instead, Ben and Nathaniel stood transfixed and both asked for more when it finished! We got the sparklers out and introduced some of the littles to them. The littles who were 2 and older got sparklers, and so did their adults :) Sparklers are such treats!

Was a really lovely evening, even though quite a few people who were going to come couldn't because they or their little people are poorly :( Get well soon Lucas, Melody and Ruth...

We also had what may go down as one of the best coffee mornings ever this morning. Libby and I met up for coffee in Costa with our boys. Recently when I've been out for coffee with Ben it's been unbelievably stressful, he's just not been interested in sitting down and having a drink and a biscuit or anything. But with Nathaniel there, even though neither of them ate or drank very much, they didn't run off either - they just ran rings round the table, fell down laughing their heads off, stuck their heads through the holes in the backs of the chairs, terrorised other customers, climbed up onto chairs and down off chairs and laughed and laughed and ran round and round again. Was absolutely brilliant!
