In the Life of JamKeilidh

By JamKeilidh

Another tribute to Bonnie Scotland :))

I noticed this today!!! This is the calendar hanging in our kitchen. It was produced locally by one of our banks to highlight our national motto "Out of many, one people". Each month, a different group of people are highlighted displaying the melting pot of races, people and culture that make up the Jamaican people today.

The caption in the photo may be too small for you to read but part of it says:

Scots, like the Germans and Irish, were encouraged to come to Jamaica following Emancipation in an attempt by the Government to establish European townships. Place names like Culloden, Craigie and Aberdeen reflect strong Scottish ties.

That is cool, huh? I need to find out where those places are in Jamaica though :-/

I'm now tempted to sing 'Auld Lang Syne'..lol!
