Standing
Elizabeth is still getting on well with the childminder. She's great. She has taken them all out every day Elizabeth's been there. She's been to the zoo, to feed the ducks, for a walk in the forest, to a playgroup and somewhere else. She's always smiling when I leave her and when I pick her up. Fabulous! And she's usually slept really well overnight afterwards too.
On Wednesday we went to a Heuristic play session. Where the babies 'find' objects that can be found in the home, such as jar lids and wooden spoons. And the adults sit back and watch as they explore the objects. Its a new class in the area, so we were all interested to see the reaction. There were 4 of us there, and each of the babies reacted differently. Quite often the babies would stop to watch the others too, especially when they found noisy objects! Apparently Elizabeth has very good motor skills. Plus when she picked an object, she would spend a long time examining it and wouldn't just toss it aside for something better. A bigger boy tried to take a spoon off her at one point, but she kept hold of it and nearly fell over saving her prize. :)
Leanne and Owen were there, our friends from the Breastfeeding Cafe. I'm glad to have seen them. As I can't go to the cafe, I was wondering if we'd see each other at all. I'm hoping that we can arrange to have lunch on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Owen is only 4 weeks older than Elizabeth and they've been developing at pretty much the same rate. It's nice to have a 'buddy'.
Elizabeth's started teething again, and at the same time she's been learning how to pull herself up to a standing position by grabbing whatever she can. So as a result of both, she's been quite difficult to get to sleep the last few days. As for the standing thing, she's such a determined little girl, that she'll want to keep doing it until she can do it properly. It was the same with the sitting up on her own. So we'll not get peace until she's sorted it.
