Have some color! This is my friend tree. That is his whole name "my friend tree" and everyone in my family still calls him that to this day. This is the tree as a child I would swing under and sing songs for myself and probably for the elderly neighbors. I was always an entertainer. My friend tree is bursting with color currently and I wanted to catch him looking his autumnal best.

I went to the neighborhood block party last night and sat by a lovely bonfire in the street. A Vietnam vet decided to sit next to me and my more progressive friends and talk some shit just as we were getting to know a charming young man studying chemical engineering who happened to be from Saudi Arabia. Vietnam vet proceeded to challenge everything I and my friends said while interjecting "honey" every time he addressed me. Anyway, while quite annoying and backwards I do sort of love that type of thing. So often we only surround ourselves with like minded people and it is easy to forget what the others are are thinking out in the world. It helps to remind me what I think and believe when I am challenged. He just kept talking about war and how it was important to go over there and kill them before they kill us.. I just can't imagine that mentality.

It did make for an interesting night... honey
