Damn it's such a fine city!
So as you may suspect from the last two entries, my good friend Emily and I went for a long weekend road trip up to San Francisco to make best use of our holiday weekend.
The image above is at the Palace of Fine Arts, originally a temporary (wood and plaster) structure built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, scheduled to be torn down. It was loved so much they decided to keep it. It gradually fell apart until rebuilt with concrete in the 60's. Very cool spot with enchanted ponds, fantastic architecture, including a very large dome with arches.
I had to run through this whole place in about 10 minutes snapping off as many pictures as possible as I was with 2 girls waiting on me who were much more into shopping and sipping coffee at cute little cafes. So unfortunately photography was secondary on this trip, though I could have spent all day at this one location.
Next we headed to Haight Street where we had a good deal of fun standing in front of cool graffiti, and looking like a retard in need of a haircut.
After Emily and Tala randomly got their noses pierced wee took a bus downtown for a quick peak at the festive holiday atmosphere on the busy streets around the Union Square area.
Then it was off through Chinatown (where there were some excellent dark alleys I could have spent all night shooting) as we were late for a reservation at a very nice Italian restaurant were Tala's very cool Italian boyfriend is sous chef. The incredible flavorful tomato soup with rosemary infused olive oil was amazing, but not quite as good as the ridiculously tasty imported fresh mozzarella on the Caprese salad.
