1902 DELAUGERE ET CLAYETTE
This country is full of eccentric people.
Why would somebody spend a lifetime and a fortune restoring, renovating, repairing and running a car that is over 100 years old, has no roof or doors and probably has no heater or radio. Mine is about 12 years old and I begrudge it every penny.
Equally bizarre is the fact that thousands or people came out to watch and even WAVE at these strange people as they went past, slowly.
Most worrying to me is the fact I loved it, getting really excited to see the next one coming along in the distance, taking just short of 300 pictures in the process. I also waved, but not at everyone that went by. And I was really sad when I saw one on the roadside, streaming or smoking or just generally broken.
The London to Brighton Rally happens but once a year and it is a chance to see some beautiful engineering and some truly strange but delightful people. Thank you all and long may they prosper.
