Mostly Oxides....

.... this glaze is;

Seven of Manganese Dioxide,
Three of dry Red Clay powder
and
One of Black Copper Oxide.

Fire, Oxidised (Electric Kiln in my case),
to 1200 degrees Centigrade,
maybe more slowly the last 50 degees (take an hour),
then hold for about 20 minutes at 1200....

That is the science (kind of).
But in there is also
superstition, ritual, alchemy and friendship
(Ceramics is a sociable art),

so I know you'll add your own ingredients.
