Resilience
About a month ago, I contacted the Belfast City Council in order to gain access to the old derelict part of Belfast Zoo. They kindly agreed to allow us in for a wander around today. The last time I was in that part of the zoo, I was about six years old. Click here to see a picture of that day (I'm the cute one, bottom left!). The zoo was known as Bellevue Zoo back then.
It was a very interesting walk, accompanied by the Education Officer, Geraldine, who kept us on the straight and narrow.
Overall, I wasn't very happy with my pictures and only have a few half-decent ones to show for my morning, but it was a very enjoyable experience. Thanks Geraldine!
Here are my runners up:
Hereeee's Jonny!
Floral Hall
The Floral Hall is situated inside the current zoo. It dates from the 1930s and is an art deco ballroom. In the 1960s, concerts were held there for groups such as Pink Floyd and the Small Faces. It has been derelict since the 1970s, but plans are now underway to use it as a conference centre etc.
Jonny is nowhere near as old as the hall!
