A Welsh Sporting Legend - Gareth Edwards
A different kind of statue, a different sort of location. Whereas our Victorian and Edwardian predecessors sought to put monuments in civic places, and parks; our modern legends have statues erected in their own lifetimes and in different public spaces such as shopping centres.
I had the pleasure of watching Gareth in his prime playing for the Cardiff club and for Wales. I never played against him, but could have, as we had a fixture against Millfield - but he wasn't playing that day. So, that's not my claim to fame :-). I wish I could say I was there when he scored this try for the Barbarians, but I wasn't. Enjoy!
