Samples...

First work-related blip in a while... Must be desperate!! :-)

Busy busy day at work. It's pre-winter check time and that means analysis of hundreds of Scotland's electrical transformers (or the oil contained within) to ensure they are in tip-top shape before the cold hits, guaranteeing (as much as we can) the supply of electricity to all your homes!

This is the extraction of 24 such transformer oil samples, getting them ready for some HPLC analysis - exciting stuff... The fume cabinet this set-up is in is pretty small, so it's a bit like spaghetti junction in there with all the tubes and sample pots...

And after all this hard work, it was off to Wagamama for me, to meet my old workmate K, and eat spicy curry, catch up on her latest news and reminisce about the distillery days...
