Fair game
I participated in a protest march today against what is effectively the privatization of higher education. It's the first time I've been on a march, despite left wing family roots.
While I firmly believe in the cause, I felt compelled to document a photographer for my blip entry, not a placard waving student.
I was simply struck by the sheer number of people taking photographs, what does it mean? Is a visual revolution taking place under our noses? Freedom of speech and freedom of communication can only be good thing, but are we becoming unhealthily obsessed with images?
I find it difficult to take pictures of strangers, I feel like I'm intruding, taking something from them without permission. However, taking a picture of a person already taking a picture is OK isn't it? I mean this guy is fair game. Taking a picture of me, taking a picture of you, taking a picture of me...
He looks sheepish too, guess I'm not alone.
