Palm Oasis

Our hike of choice today was through the Thousand Palms Oasis to the McCallum Grove shown here reflected in the McCallum Pond. These rare groves are formed when water seeps from the San Andreas Fault into the desert, providing the necessary moisture for growth. The Nature Conservancy and the Center for Natural Lands Management own and operate this amazing preserve, keeping it pristine for all to enjoy.
