Looking at the world through a window in a pub

Had a fun night with friends. Good food, tasty beer and interesting conversation... One tough question was, what should we consider the fair bet in a situation where A says x is more probable than y, wants to bet on it, and B thinks A is wrong. Surprisingly hard one to settle in the pub atmosphere.
