Sunbathing Sea Otter
Backblip. It was our last full day on Skye so we decided to get up early and look for Otters. The tide was high and the water calm so ideal to spot them. After a few hours we had given up hope and decided to just go for a walk to a lovely beach close to where we were staying.
Darren spotted it diving for its breakfast. Huge smiles appeared on our faces. We had spotted an Otter previously in the week but much further away and from the cover of a hide.
Each time the Otter dived we crept a little closer to the rocks on the shore line. Eventually we were as close as we dared for fear of being sniffed out. We sat in amongst the stinking seaweed in awe of this elusive creature.
We could hear it chewing the fish bones and then it started to swim to shore. I watched it clean its fur and then it fell asleep as seen in the picture. I giggled nervously but luckily it didn't hear me. You can however hear me on the short film I have taken. The recording was much better than the pictures I took with the same camera.
Another one to tick off the list of things to do before I die.
