Confluence

This is the Mangles River where she meets the Buller. Taken from the Mangles Bridge on the State Highway looking downstream. In the top of the picture the Mangles crosses a small rapid before flowing into the much bluer Buller. Today the Mangles is quiet and low, but only a fortnight ago that cave entrance was virtually hidden beneath flood waters.

Taking this photo I was very much buffeted by the cars and trucks crossing the bridge at 100kmh and sprayed with dirty roadwater by each and every one of them. Of course if I'd chosen some time other than a rainy Sunday early afternoon it might have been a little less of a mission.
