My daughter was involved in a biathlon of sorts today - a run / swim alongside 500 other kids. As a club swimmer and runner she is miles better than me, yet I feel compelled as the parent 'on-the-side' to offer advice...

It usually involves - "go fast but not too fast, and not too slow, sprint at the end, breathe and relax into it" - pretty comprehensive stuff eh?!

Mostly I just smile and say "try your hardest" - which, as her expression says. "what else would I do Mother?"!!!
