Better to give

So it's that time of year. The lights are on in the town where I live, the displays are in the shop windows, plans are being made for parties and get-togethers, I'm beginning to think about shopping lists.

But today, before really getting into the swing of self-indulgent festivities, hundreds of people in York, together with thousands of people across the country, donated boxes of gifts for children they will never meet.
