Sign from Things Past

A train whistle sign for a grade crossing on the long gone Auburn road of the New York Central RR. The Auburn road was a secondary route between Rochester and Syracuse with connections to Baltimore and Washington DC over the also almost completely gone Northern Central branch of the Pensylvania RR. The NYC and Pennsy have also vanished as corporate entities tho their main lines are still in use
