It's been a splendid day in Edinburgh. Blue sky and sunshine - and very, very cold. A great epidemic this morning of scraping windscreens - while at Waitrose, where they have just spent what must be an astronomic amount of money replacing the surface on their roof car park, the said car park was like a skating rink for cars and pedestrians alike. (Thing is that the previous surface felt always safe in these conditions!)
But now the light is fading. On Blackford Pond there seems to be a mass rally of ducks underway - all heading intently towards the same goal. All, that is, except for the guy on the left who is intent on mooning the world!
The goal is a mother and push chair walking along the path beside the pond. "Look, chaps, that is just the kind of people who might be ready to whip out a bag of stale bread!" So they followed her all the way round - a futile exercise as it turned out. Hope unrequited!
