Festive Ram.

Another beautiful day here in Baku so I went out for a walk with my camera. Came across a family dressing up a ram at the side of the road. They were happy for me to take photos - 'it's an old tradition' explained one man. Today and tomorrow is Qurban Bayrami (Eid el-Adha), the festival of sacrifice, so I don't expect this ram had a happy ending. I was struck by how little it complained as it was dressed and then carried off by its horns and haunches. It didn't make a sound, just put up a little physical resistance. I'm not a vegetarian, but neither am I used to making eye contact with dinner, and I found myself thinking about the ram and his fate for some time. I didn't see anymore today.
